Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) measures your lung volume, capacity, rates of air flow and gas exchange. The test is done by spirometer which measures the amount of air you breathe in and out. It helps to detect breathing problems such as asthma and any other lung diseases. If you are on medication, it also can tell how well your medication is working.
